This has
been a completely new and challenging year for everyone, particularly with the
situation of the students and the classes. Today the classroom, in most cases,
is a computer screen or a cell phone, as the coronavirus pandemic prevents
classes from being held in person, and professionals must resort to ingenuity.
Therefore, the printing of guides, the creation of Whatsapp groups or the
elaboration of video capsules have become the main allies to carry out these
activities.
For all
teachers it has been a great challenge to carry out distance classes through
technological platforms, to restructure all teaching methodologies and for us,
the students, it has been a challenge to be able to adapt to these new forms of
teaching. The
headaches became a habit after a long time in front of the screens, I had to
buy glasses to diminish the visual fatigue, but many teachers limited the time
of their classes in good of the mental health.
Online
meeting platforms have been a novelty this year, not only for classes, but also
to meet with friends. This year I celebrated my birthday by zooming in on my
friends and family, otherwise it would have been impossible to see them all due
to social distancing and quarantine.
Continuing
with my experience in online classes, I did not like the first semester at all,
not because of the teachers, but because in my career (Film and TV) the
subjects are much more practical, so we missed a semester in which we did not
have the opportunity to handle camera equipment, lighting or editing. Not being
able to have that opportunity I think will affect a lot in practice, because
it's not the same to see a camera on a screen as to have it in your own hands.
In the
second semester the subjects were adapted much better, because in this semester
the branches of writing, research and literary creation appear, which is much
easier to be able to develop them from our homes.
Personally,
I think that the virtual classes are the best option to share knowledge and
teaching during this pandemic, they help to avoid contact with people and to
have meetings with many people without danger. I miss the regular classes a lot
because going to the University helped me a lot to concentrate, besides that I
could print the books and not burn my eyes reading from the screen.
I hope that
in the near future everything will return to normal, especially because there
are many careers where attendance and the use of special equipment are
essential for learning. At the moment we can only hope and take advantage of
all the knowledge that online classes can provide.
What a good reflection
